Representative Tim Bishop welcomed the endorsement of Governor Andrew Cuomo today.
Governor Cuomo said Representative Bishop’s record makes the case for his re-election.
"I am proud to endorse Tim Bishop for Reelection to the House of Representatives. Tim is a true advocate for Eastern Long Island and all New Yorkers. From fighting for clean air and clean water to fighting to keep jobs in our state at Brookhaven National Laboratory and Gabreski Airport, Tim has shown time and again that he has what it takes to represent our interests in Congress. In short, Tim delivers for us and for Eastern Long Island and that's why it is so important to send him back to Congress."
Bishop said he was honored to have the support of Governor Cuomo.
“I am honored to have this endorsement,” Bishop said. “Governor Cuomo has been a staunch supporter of middle class families on Long Island and throughout New York. The Governor’s office has been a great leader by turning our state around and making government work for the people.”
Bishop and Governor Cuomo partnered together to bring meaningful reform to the student loan delivery system. After then-Attorney General Cuomo exposed rampant abuses in the system, Rep. Bishop as a member of the House Workforce and Education Committee took the lead in Congress to pass the Student Loan Sunshine Act, which brings much needed reform and transparency to the student loan delivery system to the benefit for students.
Representative Bishop was first elected to Congress in 2002 and is currently running for his sixth term.
